Trailer Park Of Terror (2008)

What does drugs, Asian massage, deals with the devil, and deep fried jerky all have in common? Well that’s an easy one, they’re all at the Trailer Park Of Terror!

Trailer Park Of Terror is an odd movie, based on a comic which is more then likely odder, but I haven’t read it. It’s a movie about a zombie trailer park, filled with gore, sex, and hit or miss humor. So why don’t you sit down with me for a minute and we’ll take a look inside.

The film starts with Norma, a sweet trailer park slut trying to leave the trailer park with her boyfriend. He see’s her for the good in her, and doesn’t care about any of the rest, isn’t that sweet. But through some very witty dialog we’re shown just how shitty life is in the trailer park, since all the people in it are absolute assholes, who get her lover killed. This leads Norma to make a deal with a very well acted devil, go back to the trailer park, kill everyone, and burn it down with her inside. Ouch.

Jump forward 20-30 years, we’re following a bus of troubled teens, and their youth pastor who have the misfortune of crashing just outside of the trailer park. But wait, didn’t I just say it was burned to the ground? That’s right, I did, but it’s back. As they go to look for help they come across Norma, and the ghoulish trailer park inhabitants. Will they make it through the night, or will they never again leave the Trailer Park Of Terror?

I like this film, but just barely, it borders on the line. Now that being said, you’ll be expecting a 50ish rating, but no. The reason it borders on the line is the humor, it’s very very sexual. We’re talking hand jobs to corpses, rape, abuse, prostitution, and more, and it’s all done in a comedic way. I found some of it funny, but it really felt like they just keep throwing it at you for shock value, and I got bored of it quickly. Besides that it really is a fun movie.

There is a lot of gore in this one, but none of it is realistic. There’s your dismemberment, and people being eaten, shot etc.  But one scene did seem to stand out above the rest. One of the ghouls, is making jerky out of one of the teens, cuts off his skin, and shoves it in his mouth. The way the skin looked, was quite disgusting. That is followed up by the kid, now completely skinned, being deep fried alive.

The acting in this movie is nothing special from the teens or Norma, but the other members of the Trailer Park Of Terror ( sorry I just love that name) are acted out quite well, and are always a treat when their on the screen.  Even the guy who constantly plays guitar on the roof of his trailer. At least the songs are good.

Check this one out if your in the mood to turn your mind off, and just watch some ghouls wreck havoc on some kids.

Sick Nurses ( 2007)

I’m warning you from the get go, I’m spoiling the living hell out of this. Now that said, I still think you should tag along for the journey, since the movie isn’t anything worth writing home about, and the spoilers ain’t worth that much.

Sick Nurses is the Thailand story of Dr. Tar, a nice young doctor with a great career and bright future ahead of him. Not to mention great money on the side selling bodies on the side.  He also has seven beautiful nurses who help with this. He’s engaged to Tahwaan, the beautiful ( I shudder as I write that), nurse who only talks about how they’re getting married. Tahwaan catches Dr. Tar cheating with her much hotter sister, Nook, or as I’ll be calling her from now one, Nookie. This leads Tahwaan to threaten to call the police, and gets her killed by all the other nurses and Dr. Tar, who keeps the body in his car to sell.

Seven days later, the day of Dr. Tar winning doctor of the year, Tahwaan comes back as a terrible looking actor-effects combo. The ghost of Tahwaan spends the rest of the movie killing off all of the nurses in some of the most bizarre death scenes I’ve ever seen.  We got toothbrush kills, we have a girl eating razors, so that he lower jaw falls off, then a plastic duck, or turkey I’m not sure, being rammed down her throat. There’s even a girl who gets a purse stitched to her neck, with her head inside, in such a way that when the stitching is undone, her head falls off. Their just so fucking odd, it’s not fun to watch, yet you can’t look away.

As it turns out, every nurse had her own obsession or vice, and one of the twists in the movie, is how Dr. Tar encouraged them all. These obsessions also determine how each nurse will be haunted and killed. I like the idea of characters who are flawed and controlled by their obsessions, but this isn’t the way they should be done, there’s not enough substance.

Now, I’m about to spoil the biggest twist of all, if you still think you might care to watch the movie for it’s story, I suggest you stop reading.  But if your interested in what I think is the greatest bad twist of all time, here we are.

Turns out, when the doctor was younger, he was very close to a male friend. I mean very close. While the movie doesn’t show anything to risky, there is a very important flashback. It involves the doctors male friend asking him to get married, to which the good doctor responds ” I can’t marry a man”. Turns out, he really wanted to get married, wanted to enough in fact to get a sex change, and come back in the doctors life as Tahwaan.  ….WOW, that’s dedication folks. The movie ends with him being birthed out of his sister ( a man again), as Dr. Tar watches. Still covered in blood and after birth Tahwaan slides up on Dr. Tar and say’s “Marry Me”, and it goes to black.

Well there you have it, Sick Nurses. I was really looking forward to watching this, I hadn’t heard anything on it, but it’s from Thailand, and I love watching foreign horror. I don’t know if it’s because I don’t get it, or because it really was as bad as I thought. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it, or what other foreign horror movie’s really let you down.

The Grudge (2004)

What can I say about the Grudge you don’t  already know? Everyone reading this has either seen it, or know’s enough that they don’t want to. My feelings on the Grudge are almost always mixed though. I like it some times, other times I don’t, it really depends on the mood I am in. But I love Ju-on, the Japanese movie it’s based on.

The story is simple. Evil house, you enter it haunts you, and kills you. That’s the story down at it’s bare bones, and besides the reason it haunts, that’s pretty much the whole story. Some one enters, they are haunted, let’s follow the people getting haunted with the camera. But the story is never the strong point in J-horror or J-horror remakes.

The strongest point in The Grudge, is the suspense, and chills it brings. Alot of people I know find the little boy and the throat scratching noise, to be the scariest thing ever. I find these parts of the movie to be a little weak, but the suspense when you see something in the background, or you hear a noise some where else, always work on me.

I’m short on time today cause it’s my first day of my new job, so this is done. But I’m going to be waking up earlier once I get in the schedule of things, so you can expect to see the other reviews fixed up, and some new touches to be added to the site.
